I’m Not Dead Yet! The Sago Returns!
Two winters ago, this old Sago Palm took a beating from the freezing rain. The fronds turned almost entirely brown, so they were pruned off. Usually, I would expect to see new growth in late Spring, but this old Sago had other ideas. I checked on it often and knew it was still alive, but it took over a year for new growth to show. Over the last week it grew over two feet! It will be back to its beautiful splendor soon. That goes to show that patience is needed sometimes in the garden. Thank goodness this Sago was never removed. It would have been a shame to remove such an old soul of a palm. We all want a beautiful landscape, but sometimes nature needs us to wait a bit.
